Medical Disclaimer
Last updated: June 20, 2026
Please read this carefully. It explains the limits of GreenCheck and how to use it safely. By using GreenCheck you acknowledge and accept this Disclaimer, which is part of our Terms of Service.
Information only — not medical advice
GreenCheck provides general information to help you make faster decisions in the aisle. It is not medical advice and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your child’s physician, allergist, or another qualified health professional with any questions about a medical condition, allergy, or diet. Never disregard or delay seeking professional advice because of something in the app.
Not a medical device
GreenCheck is a consumer information tool. It is not a medical device and has not been evaluated, cleared, or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or any other regulator. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any disease, allergy, or health condition, and it must not be used for those purposes.
A grade is not a guarantee of safety
A favorable grade (BEST, GOOD, or CAUTION) is not a representation, warranty, or guarantee that a product is safe, allergen-free, or suitable for your child, and the absence of a flag does not mean an allergen or ingredient is absent. Grades are informational only and reflect just the data available to the app and the profile information you entered.
Results may be incomplete, not exhaustive, or wrong
GreenCheck depends on data and technology that can be inaccurate. In particular:
- ingredient and allergen information comes from third-party databases (such as OpenFoodFacts) and from automated analysis, and may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect;
- manufacturers change formulations and labeling without notice, so a product may differ from the data we have;
- barcode scans and label photos can be misread, and a product may not be found at all;
- cross-contamination and “may contain” risks are often not captured in ingredient data;
- our analysis is not exhaustive — we may not detect every allergen, ingredient, additive, or risk;
- a grade reflects only the profile information you entered, which is your responsibility to keep accurate and complete.
Always read the product label
The physical product label and the manufacturer are the authoritative source — not GreenCheck. Always read the actual ingredient and allergen statement on the package before giving any food to your child, every time, even if GreenCheck shows a favorable grade. If the label and the app disagree, trust the label and do not rely on the app.
Allergies and life-threatening conditions
Food allergies can be life-threatening. Never rely on GreenCheck — or any app — as the sole basis for an allergy-safety decision. Use GreenCheck only as one input alongside reading labels, following your allergist’s guidance, and your own judgment. Do not use it to make decisions for any life-threatening condition or in an emergency.
No professional relationship
Using GreenCheck does not create a doctor–patient, dietitian–client, or any other professional or clinical relationship between you and GreenCheck.
Assumption of risk & limitation of liability
You understand and accept the limitations described here and assume the risks of relying on the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, GreenCheck is not liable for decisions made based on the app, subject to the disclaimers and the limitation of liability in our Terms of Service. Nothing here attempts to exclude or limit liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
